From Alpine folklore, the legend of Krampus tells of a horned figure who scared naughty children who misbehaved. In this drawing, Krampus is depicted as a nature spirit, comprised of Winter-bare branches and of holly sprigs from the deep forest, impervious to the spirited firelight within which animates its being.
